Club Rides
Our Saturday open Club rides offer the best cycling experience in Sydney. The Club prides itself in developing safe and challenging routes, which take in the best parts of North Western Sydney. We cater for various levels of cycling ability by running groups which average 24km/h through to our faster bunches at 34km/h. All our club rides are "no drop", but please make sure you know your limits before joining a group. If you are unsure, chat with one of our ride leads or committee members.
As a member of NWSCC you gain access to our private Facebook group, which is where our members post the many rides that are held throughout the week, including our monthly Fondos.
Saturday Open Club Rides
During the warmer months we have up to a hundred cyclists that come along to our Saturday morning rides. You do not need to be a member to join us for a ride, however, we do encourage you to join once you have been riding with us a few times. Non-members are required to sign a liability waiver each ride.
Bunches
24’s Group: Our cruisiest of bunches and the entry point for new riders. The perfect place to develop bunch riding skills including how to ride on the front of a bunch, become familiar with key bunch riding terminology and anticipating road obstacles and hazards. Expect the speed to be less than 30 km/h on the flat and the overall average speed to be 24–26 km/h. This is a no drop group..
26’s Group: This bunch is moderately paced. The bunch will often split on climbs but will regroup at the top. The focus on this group will be maintaining a consistent pace in a tight bunch and is the perfect progression for those coming through the developmental Pathway and a great group for a more social ride. Expect the speed to be about 30-35 km/h on the flat and the overall average speed to be 26–28 km/h. This is a no drop group.
28’s Group: This bunch is a brisk ‘tempo’ ride for intermediate and experienced riders. A good level of fitness and ride endurance will allow you to keep up with this bunch. Expect the speed to be about 35-40 km/h on the flat (or pace-lining) and the average overall speed to be 28. This is a no drop group.
30’s Group: This is a high pace group ride for experienced riders and racers. A solid knowledge of bunch riding skills together with a high level of rider fitness is required to keep up with this bunch. Expect the speed to be about 40 km/h on the flat and the overall average speed to by 30-32km/h.This is a no drop group.
34+ Group: Our fastest group with many of whom are racers and/or very experienced riders. Unlike the rest of our groups this bunch will not wait for you if you get dropped on the return routes, so you better know your way home and have spares! Expect the speed to be about 40+ km/h over the flat and the overall average speed 34+ km/h..
